One more step after class.

If you are coming from the Advanced Excel lab, this space gives you something extra to practise with. Official handouts, assignments and announcements remain on Moodle.

The data challenge

Download the kit and combine sales, products and customers. All records are synthetic. January is the starting point; February lets you test append and refresh.

Import the files with Power Query and check data types.
Join products and customers by ID, retaining every sale.
Calculate revenue, cost and margin; reconcile row counts and totals.
Add February and refresh. Then try the file with an unknown product ID: how do you flag it without losing the sale?

Use this list on your exercise. Selections only exist in the open page.

Original source files are preserved unchanged.Each row represents an identifiable transaction.Customer and product key matches are checked.Dates and numbers use the correct locale.Merges do not multiply transactions.Report totals reconcile to the source.A new period is included after refreshing.An unmatched record remains visible and is flagged.
